Job Specifics

Our Port Perry client is looking for a Machine Operator - Class B
The ideal candidate is a form of a handyman/woman. Someone mechanically inclined.

Reports to: Shift Supervisor
 
Time: Shift Work (Continental 12 Hour Shifts) – Start with a Day shift
 
Start Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 8:00 am 
 
Regular Duties:
  • Meet with the supervisor to discuss current production activities, scheduled line changes, and personnel needs before going on the floor (Explain any line/equipment issues).
  • Ensure complete adherence to all quality requirements for all products produced.
  • Carefully review all ERP information to ensure accurate production and scheduling of line changes and downtime for each line.
  • Ensure that each carton has the correct number of parts and is accurately weighed.
  • Ensure that each carton is labeled correctly and packed properly on the correct skid.
  • Stamp each carton that you pack with your quality stamp showing the date and ID. 
  • Aim to minimize scrap. Accurately weigh and record any scrap that is produced.
  • Ensure that production quality reports and any other required paperwork are completed for each line by the end of the shift for review by the production supervisor.
  • Maintain the highest housekeeping standard at all times.
  • Exhibit regular attendance at monthly crew and safety meetings.
  • Follow the company handbook and all other policies. 
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Follow machine operator responsibilities for health and safety.
o   Assist the JHSC Committee as required.
o   Report safety infractions in the health and safety log book.
o   Inform the supervisor promptly of health and safety issues where their assistance may be required.
o   Recognize the recommendation that all heavy lifts (generally over 40 lbs) are performed as team lifts.
o   Ensure that failure by any worker to comply with the health and safety legislation and our policies and procedures will be met with a suitable process of progressive re-enforcement with the support of management.
o   Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers.
o   Report all safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
 
Skills and Training Requirements (Entry Level)
  • OSSD Diploma (Grade 12).
  • WHMIS
  • Parts measurement (calipers, tape measures, scales, and guzintas).
  • Entry-level position for the Organization.
 
Ongoing Training Requirements
  • Training in the Organization’s Processes (Scheduling, Quality Assurance, Set-up, Material Handling, Operator, Maintenance)
  • Upgrade courses as required.
