JOB OVERVIEW:
Operates forklift to source and load/unload products onto vehicles in an efficient and safety-conscious manner.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Operates forklift to move product around as needed (12 to 24 feet of wood), load and unload vehicles, transport material, and prepare loads for delivery.
- Performs routine and regular preventative maintenance of the vehicle, advising the supervisor of required repairs. Complete the forklift inspection sheet daily.
- Prepares orders for delivery, including identifying, locating, and securing material as per the shipping memo and completing paperwork.
- Builds and arranges customer orders, loads them onto vehicles, and secures the load to the vehicle, helping minimize the potential for damage during transport.
- Receives returned material, completes a sold sticker for re-delivery, or returns material to stock as directed.
- Consistently completes stock warning slips in a timely fashion.
- Acts as a Driver’s Helper as required, assisting the driver with manually unloading and transporting material.
- Assists with general yard and warehouse maintenance, removing debris and straightening lifts, and other general labor duties as needed
Requirements:
- Valid counterbalance forklift certificate and 2+ years of counterbalance experience
- The position requires an individual who is self-motivated and possesses strong organizational skills.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The incumbent is required to work indoors as well as outdoors
- 50% GL and 50% FL for the forklift Counterbalance role
- Lumber experience benefit
Shift Timing: 3:30 pm to 12:00 am and alternates days off as we have a Sunday shift through to Friday.
